Friends of Fortune is my graduation project as part of my Game Design degree at ISART Digital. It was made in 8 months, with a team of 15 people, including Game Designers, 2D and 3D Artists, Programmers, Producers and a Sound Designer.
Go on an adventure with your friends, by using your smartphone as a controller. Roll the dice to determine your fate!

Concept and intents
When we pitched the game’s concept, the idea was to use both a TV screen and a smartphone, the latter being used as a controller for all of the actions that would happen on the other screen.
Focusing on the FTUE
The most challenging task on this project was to manage to teach the players how to play when they launch the game for the first time. There was indeed a LOT of informations and mechanics to understand:
How to interact with points of interest…
How each of the players special weapons was useful in their own, specific way…
When to look at the smartphone, and when to look at the TV screen…
How to connect the player’s smartphone to the TV screen…
What the goal of the game was…
How to “move” between points of interest…
The phone-TV screen interactions
The key selling point of our game was the interaction between the smartphone and the TV.
